ZAHA HADID

ZAHA HADID

Zaha Hadid (1950- 2016) was an Iraqi-born British architect known for her radical deconstructivist designs. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Zaha decided to study at the Architectural Association in London, where she established her own London-based firm: Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), in 1979. Her design communicates a sense of fragmentation, instability, movement and has aggressive geometrics. This style led her to be considered as “deconstructivist,” a classification made popular by the 1988 landmark exhibition “Deconstructivist Architecture” held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Zaha Hadid has built projects all over the world, such as: the Vitra Fire Station in Weil am Rhein, Germany; MAXXI museum in Rome; CityLife Milano Residential Complex.
